UPDATE, FEBRUARY 3, 12PM MST
Registration will still open to the public tomorrow, Monday, February 4, at 10AM MST.
I’m still expecting that the number of registrations for the 7-day High Sierra and Alaska trips will exceed the number of remaining spots available. Below is an update on remaining spots. Every 7-day trip is now 50% full, due only to registrations by existing clients, to whom I gave a 2-week early exclusive.
Tomorrow only, registrations for all trips (Levels 1, 2 and 3) will not be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Instead, on Tuesday morning I will sort through all submitted registrations and decide who will be granted the spots. If the number of registrations do not exceed the number of remaining spots, all registrations will be accepted, pending satisfaction of Prerequisites and Expectations.
Finally, to help satisfy demand I am considering adding more 7-day sessions. No promises and no details yet, since my schedule is already very full and since I’ll need Amanda’s blessing. If this happens, I’ll make sure you hear about it.
ORIGINAL POST. PUBLISHED FEBRUARY 1, 2013, AT 12PM MST
Registration for my 2013 guided trips will open on Monday, February 4, at 10AM MST.
This year I am offering four different types of trips:
- Level 1 — Backpacking Fundamentals: 3 days/2 nights, 7 regional sessions
- Level 2 — Winter Backpacking: 3 days/2 nights, 1 session in early-March
- Level 2 — High Sierra Adventure: 7 days/6 nights, 3 sessions
- Level 3 — Alaska Adventure: 7 days/6 nights, 2 sessions
For trip descriptions, schedules, locations, prerequisites, prices, and other information, go to the Guided Trips section.
Two weeks ago I opened registration for former clients, and I have been flattered by the number of those returning for another trip in 2013. However, it’s clear to me that demand will exceed supply this year, and already I have limited spots available for new clients on the High Sierra and Alaska 7-day trips:
Most of these trips will probably fill on Monday, some probably within the first half-hour of open registration. Therefore, my recommendation is this: If you hope to get on one of these trips, register ASAP.
I’m not trying to artificially hype demand for these trips — it’s extremely strong with or without this blog post, and I’m only trying to avoid disappointments. I’ll try to keep an updated tally of registrations on Monday, on the Schedule page. And registrations for full trips will be put on a waitlist.
Demand for the 3-day Backpacking Fundamentals is also high, but there are more spots available on these trips so I do not expect them to fill as quickly.
