Gordon Gecko on a cutting-edge mobile phone, circa 1987
For the last two weeks I’ve been pounding the phone trying to schedule presentations and book signings for this Spring. I’m excited that confirmations are really starting to come through, as seen by the list at the bottom of this post.
But first, some events need a “nudge.” And you can help.
The venues below are interested in bringing me in but have not yet committed. If you’d like to make a call, I’m sure they would appreciate hearing that their communities are excited about the possibility that I might present there. They are all excellent venues and I’d love to add them to the calendar. You don’t need to make a pitch for me—just a quick call to encourage them. Hearing from just one or two people can really help. Thanks!

Andrew,
Looking forward to seeing you at the NOC in March. Eager to hear about your adventures.

You need to come to the Desert Rat in St. George Utah for a book signing. You’d have a ton of people come!
Visit the Trailhead or REI in Missoula between Seattle and Colorado!
Salt Lake City?
Really excited that you have a scheduled stop in Iowa City. I look forward to seeing you in April.
Thanks for booking a time on my birthday, Aprill 18, in Seattle. I will be seeing one of my fav bands the night before, and hear your lecture the next day. Can’t beat that. I just hope the tentative changes to confirmed.
How do we get in to see a seminar??
Boo-ya! Bellingham WA, close enough for a Canadian. Vancouver is soooo close… maybe MEC would host a seminar if it’s not too far??
Would love to present at MEC. And it looks like I’ll have one available evening that week — it’d be pretty easy to shoot up to Vancouver for a night before heading back to Seattle or Portland.
If you’re serious about this, the best thing to do is give them a call and tell them they should bring me in. Talk to the employee who is responsible for scheduling events and give them my contact info.
Hoping to see you at the Minneapolis Outdoor Expo in April
Are you still thinking about a presentation on March 3 at GoLite? It’s listed on your home page but not on the speaking schedule. Is that open to the Public?
If the GoLite event happens, it’ll definitely be open the public. The “if” is because it’s a new store and they are busy building it right now, so if there’s a hold-up on construction then the event might be postponed.
Can’t wait to see you at the MA venues; I hope to make it to both. Phsycked you finally got a blog up and looking forward to getting your book.
I’d love to see you come to Nebraska for a lecture/clinic. Please contact Canfields in Omaha. They’ve held other seminars so I think they’d be interested in hosting a lecture & clinic. I’ve been to one seminar that they sponsered that had over 300 people so I think you could count on a large audience. And its only a 9 hour drive from Denver!
Have you had any offers from the UK? I’d love to attend one of your talks.
Not yet, but I’m considering going there next Spring for the TGO Challenge, in which case I would try tacking on some events before and after.
Any chance you might make it through Idaho any time soon? Maybe the University of Idaho in Moscow?
Alex – I maybe be in Boise again this Spring for GoLite, but that’s not confirmed yet. If you’re interested in bringing me to Moscow, we should talk — I speak at a lot of colleges, and I’m sure we could find some groups that were interested in making it happen. In my experience, it just takes a few motivated students to make it happen.
Andrew:
You really need to come give a slideshow presentation at Explorer’s Hall at NatGeo headquarters in DC. I have heard Ed Viesturs there twice and Dave Breashears. I have a large group of scouts who would love to hear you speak. A book signing would be big. Love your book.
