Earlier this Spring I had the opportunity to present at Google’s main campus in Mountain View, CA, as part of the Authors@Google program. Special thanks to Andrew de los Reyes for organizing and marketing the event — it was a huge success.
The video below is fairly representative of the clinic with which I’m currently on tour. It is essentially a microcosm of my book, The Ultimate Hiker’s Gear Guide: after discussing trip objectives (hiking versus camping) and environmental and route conditions, I explain the gear, supplies and skills that I would need for one specific hypothetical trip, in this case a 3-day hike near Mt. Whitney in July.
The clock limits my ability to give very in-depth explanations for my selections or to mention the pros, cons, trade offs, and limitations of other product options. For that level of content, you must refer to the book, or join me on a trip.
You have such a great speaking voice, very casual and relaxed. We would love to know all the brands and items names featured in the video. Crossing our fingers that a couple of ours are in there. Your other gear lists are so thorough!
Best,
Amanda L.
