Update, 11:10am MT. I have received a lot of inquiries about this project and I’m confident that within the pile we will find a suitable fill-in. If you have not contacted me, please don’t — I’m overwhelmed by those who have contacted me already…thanks for understanding. Also, thanks to everyone who passed along this post to their contacts.
I am in need of a Colorado-based outdoor photographer (or a photographer who can get here easily) to join me and a writer from Duke Magazine on a 3-day backpacking trip in Colorado. The trip needs to take place ASAP, ideally later this week (Wed-Fri) or next week (exact days TBD).
It is a documentary-style shoot — not a commercial shoot — and we will be traveling light and fast, probably 20-30 miles per day. I can loan you some equipment (e.g. backpack, shelter, sleeping bag, cookset, water bottles and purification) but it’d be helpful if you have some of your own gear too.
Duke Magazine is offering compensation for this project.
If you are interested, or have a referral, please contact me.

I’m not a pro….it’s my favorite hobby. I’m an unemployed 2nd grade teacher who hikes and backpack quite a bit. I’m in awesome shape being an ex national gymnast and athlete all my life. I’ve been told I should sell or publish some of my pictures I’ve taken while traveling abroad or hiking in our mountains, but never have. I like to shoot nature, and people from different cultures. Where are ya going to shoot? Most of our state is on fire right now, and it’s getting worse. 🙁 Make me SO sad! I have nothing going on this week except I wanted to hike Elbert or Massive (14ers). Backpacking in AK is high on my list too, except I don’t know how to shoot a gun…yet. (grizzlies)
I just emailed you. Let me know how I can be involved!
