A. Find a time & date

Before we meet in-person at the trailhead, this year we will host a virtual meeting so that you can “meet” your group members beforehand and ask any lingering questions of the guides. This idea was suggested last year by several alumni, so we’ll try it.

So that we can have a decent turnout, we’d like to know on what days and at what times you are generally available. Please complete this form. We’ll schedule the meeting when it works best for most of you. We know that you have work and family commitments, vacation plans, etc., so attendance is not required, but it’s strongly encouraged if you can swing it.

The WV meetings will be scheduled for the week of <<insert date>>. Alaska will be <<insert date>> Depending how the first meetings go, we’ll set some dates for CA and CO.

B. Meet-up instructions

Please mark your calendars for a virtual meeting.

  • <<insert group and time>>
  • <<insert group and time>>
  • <<insert group and time>>

I’m not expecting that everyone will attend, but please make it if you can. To join, follow the instructions for your trip location, below. You can join via video (preferred) or just by phone.

  • Utah
  • Appalachians
  • Alaska
  • California
  • Rocky Mountains

The meetings will start promptly and run for 30 minutes, which should be enough time to break the ice and to ask any last-minute questions.

  • Test your settings beforehand by joining a test meeting;
  • Position your microphone so that it does not pick up your breathing;
  • Minimize background noise like barking dogs, wind, or a squeaky desk chair;
  • Mute your microphone when you’re not talking.
