In Worcester & Framingham this week: Alaska-Yukon slideshow and Gear & Skills Clinic

While I’m in the Bay State this weekend to visit family and to binge on post-marathon pastries from Mike’s Pastry, I’ll also be making presentations in Worcester and Framingham. Details:

Boy Scouts of America & Doherty HS Outdoor Club

  • Thursday, April 13
  • 7:00 PM
  • Doherty Memorial High School
  • 299 Highland Street
  • Worcester, MA
  • $8.50 in advance, $10 at  the door
  • Buy tickets now

REI – Framingham

  • Friday, April 14
  • 6:30 PM
  • 375 Cochituate Rd, Framingham, MA 01701
  • Free, but limited spots. Reserve now.

I will have copies of the Second Edition of The Ultimate Hiker’s Gear Guide available for purchase. If you already own a copy of the First or Second Edition, bring it along if you’d like it signed and personalized. I love seeing heavily used copies full of dog-eared pages and highlighting.

Hope to see you there!

An extra incentive for coming out: a generous coupon from SD for everyone in attendance.

Heh, the REI session is already full and Worcester is too far 🙁

BTW, Mike’s Pastry’s all-right, overhyped a bit. Modern Pastry is just as good and doesn’t have the giant lines.

Did not know it was full. That’s awesome.

Show up there anyway. I’ll get you in. If they give you a hassle tell them you’re an old friend. And remind me that you left this post comment.

Andrew – Thanks again for the informative presentation tonight! We appreciate it! I have one quick question for you, which I forgot to ask after your REI presentation. As I stated, my wife and I, both school teachers, are planning on using next week’s spring break to hike the Massachusetts portion of the AT. My question is this: Would you think an XLite (regular) pad, a 30-degree quilt, thermal capilene leggings, and a (lightweight) long-sleeve capilene top would be adequate enough for sleep? We will be using a Z-Packs Duplex tent, and will have a balaclava, insulated jacket (Nano Air), and featherweight fleece also available should things get cold. So far, the early forecast has some nighttime temps of around 32 degrees.

    Thanks again!

      That sounds about right.
