Bighorn 100 Trail Run: Track me live as I race 100 miles on Friday

The Bighorn 100 Trail Run begins at 10 AM Mountain Time on Friday, June 16. If you’re interested, there will be live tracking from the three major checkpoints: Dry Fork, Footbridge, and Jaws.

Use these links:

The links should take you directly to the 2017 race and the 100M distance, but you might have to filter the results again if you start wandering around.

I’m hoping to finish in the 19-hour range; my pace chart is for 19:30. I tend to race conservatively, with relatively slow starts and strong finishes. It can be exciting to watch if the body cooperates.

My estimated ETA at each checkpoint:

Outbound

  • Dry Fork: 12:24:22 PM
  • Footbridge: 3:04:42 PM
  • Jaws: 7:02:52 PM

Inbound:

  • Footbridge: 10:37:19 PM
  • Dry Fork: 2:27:41 AM
  • Finish: 5:30:00 AM

Hey, Good luck @ the Bighorn I have run it several times and love it all Except the final 5 miles. Beautiful trails.

Indeed, not really looking forward to those.

    Congratulations!
It looks like the results page was changed. Am I mistaken or is there a story behind that?

A Skurka win at Bighorn? It appears to be so. Congrats, UTMB awaits.

    Nice. Very nice. Congratulations!

Nice work on BH. It’s hard to say from the (notoriously unreliable) timing, but it looks like there was a five-way tie for 1st? In any case, it’s a great race and I look back on the last two years with great pride and fondness.

Four-way tie for first. Don’t trust any of the check-in placements. I was first in and first out of Dry Fork In, for example, yet they show me losing 23 places there.

Looks like the speed work paid off!

Congrats. Not to speak ill of a free service, but the check-in page was so completely worthless as I tried to follow your race!! Better to have no data, than to have bad data!!!

      Agree, pretty useless.

Big win Skurka! I know you didn’t run your projected time but well done on the killer finish. Must have been a hell of a view to have 4 people at the finish line of a 100-miler. Good luck at UTMB.

Didn’t get to follow along live since I was out backpacking that weekend 🙂 When I looked up the results I looked twice before I noticed the first four finishers were all within one second of each other, pretty amazing… Looking forward to reading a race report on this one.

Andrew, with your success in the Bighorn 100 and also at the Boston Marathon back in April, are you planning to run any more ultras anytime soon? Have you given any thought to / do you have any interest in taking a crack at the Barkley?

    • Andrew Skurka on June 27, 2017 at 11:33 am

I have UTMB on Sept 2.

I’d be interested in Barkley, but it’s mutually exclusive with Boston (both are in April), and my experience at Boston was so positive that I am inclined to return again to see if I can go sub-2:30.

That is spectacular! Il will love to read a story about it.
